French fashion house Louis Vuitton was foundind in 1854 by solely making travelling cases and trunks. By 1888 these featured the now iconic brown checkerboard motif and in 1914 the monogrammed 'LV' symbol was patented. In 1987 the brand merged with Moet et Chandon and Hennessy forming the LVMH congomerate. In 1997 Marc Jacobs was appointed Creative Director and added a ready-to-wear line to the business. Louis Vuitton offers unrivalled designs and iconic elegance that celebrate its long heritage as the world's most prominent and valuable luxury brand.
