Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo launched his eponymous label in 1914. Famous for creating the red Wizard of Oz pumps, Ferragamo began his career crafting shoes for many early Hollywood celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The brand became famous for its unique, unconventional designs including the cage boot and wedge heel. After Ferragamo’s death in 1960, his widow took over the company, expanding the label with ready-to-wear, eyewear and bags. Today creative director Massimilano Giornetti retains Ferragamo’s experimental edge whilst modernizing the brand’s timeless Italian style.
